Do you take the time to enjoy the small things we are given?
My friend Brenda loves sunsets. I bet if we opened her phone right now and looked in her photos, more than 1/2 of them would be of sunsets. When I am with her, no matter where we are on this earth - the beach, the city or in her little Iowa town, I love catching her taking in a sunset. She gets this sense of calm and happiness that overtakes her. It is just beautiful.
She knows how to to enjoy the small things.
The small things can be big things, if we let them. Maybe if we stopped making the big things money, trips, homes, cars, basically just stuff and making the big things like the smile your partner makes when you do something silly, a hug from a tiny human, the sound of birds chirping outside your window in the spring, or the way you feel when you smell fresh coffee brewing.
Sunrises and sunsets.
None of these cost a thing but add value into our lives. If only we looked at the small things like we look big things. If only we looked at sunsets like Brenda does. I think we would feel that same sense of calm and happiness when we put more emphasis on those little joys in our life. That's the good stuff giving life meaning, that's the good stuff we need to pay more attention too.
