"Be Your Kind of Dietitian" Weekly Wisdom

Inspirational quote in black letters on grey background with white polka dots

What kind of dietitian are you or want to be today?

I got this great quote from Laura Jean of Dietitian Values and it really resonated with me when I saw it because we always should be asking ourselves this questions every day. Our "dietitian self" changes on the daily. We conform to our environment, we conform to our clients, we conform to what social media wants us to be. All these outlying things affect our dietitian definition on the daily, so how to we find consistency?

By checking in. Everyday.

Don't let a social media post question how you practice UNLESS you are looking for a change or like a new way of practicing and want to learn more. Don't let a client change you because your relationship didn't work. There is not a one-size-fits-all dietitian. We are going to have clients who we are not a good fit for and thank goodness we have a network of other dietitians to refer them to. Don't let another dietitian make you feel inferior or let them talk down to you. This space is large enough for all of us to co-exist and be on the same team - even if we practice differently. Dietitians should support other dietitians.

And if you're not digging the dietitian you are today, there are so many opportunities to be whoever you want to be in this profession. Be your kind of dietitian, no apologies needed.
