What's on Your Plate?

If you have not heard the news, the food guide pyramid is no more! The USDA has adapted a well used dietitian model for healthier eating, called the plate model.

I received this perfect picture of using the plate model created by a caring mom, Stacey, for her little twin boys, Paxton and Cyril. Her tag line was "the dietitian would be proud.". I could not agree more.

The beauty of the plate model is that is works for every age group, at home, dining out and at school. By practicing this model, you can portion out the right amount of food from each food group, which helps achieve proper intake of vitamins and minerals, as well as controlling calories.
