Dietitian Daily Thought: What Are You "Choosing" Today?

 

Question for dietitian to answer, what are you choosing today in black letters with a red polka dot background.

Dietitian Daily Thought:  
Instead of thinking of things you HAVE to do, what do you CHOOSE to do?

In stage 2023 (this is what I am calling all years of my life from now on), I have started a practice of setting the tone for each day. I wasn't sure how it would play out but I knew if I started the day off with pulling my thoughts out of my head of what how I wanted things to go - I would have a better chance of getting shit done. 

In 2022, I tried writing to-do-lists the night before or the morning of,  but it was just not sticking. I even  tried a fancy app to help with the tasks at hand, but that didn't help either. I wrestled with this for most of the year until I just stopped in November. Then I was forgetting everything, my day seems more random and I became more frazzled and disorganized. You would think after 21 years of being a dietitian, I would have my system figured out!  No. Not even close.  What worked in the past wasn't working anymore. I had to come up with something. 

I deleted the app and grabbed this random blank notepad with kitties at the top that I frequently used for grocery lists. I looked at my habits in the morning before work and found a time I could write down what I was going to choose today. 

By writing down what I choose to do each day has been life changing. After 30 days of choosing my day and writing it done on my kitty notepad, it has stuck and has changed the whole tone of my day. From having to  - to wanting to. Mindset game changer.
