"Where to Place Importance" Weekly Wisdom

Where to Place Importance Weekly Wisdom Inspirational Quote

Do you feel connections are more important for your overall health than possessions?

As of lately, I have been a little on alert of a variety of discussions about money. Making more of it, what things cost these days, ways to save it, ways to spend it, and how there isn't enough of it. I get it, money is powerful but it should not have as much power as it does over our lives.

I think back to when I graduated college and how excited I was to make money by starting my first full-time job.  I honestly do not even remember what my starting salary was. I know it wasn't much but I was content. I had a sense of responsibility, accomplishment and self-worth. I was fulfilled and didn't want for a lot. I had a roof over my head, I had food, I had clothing. I was happy.

In 10 years, the money wasn't enough. I needed to make more because I wanted a house, a new car, a $100 shirt I saw in a boutique and there was about 6 new restaurants open I hadn't gone to yet. I became obsessed with things and status. I deserved it right? I had been working so hard and at this point in my life, I need more.

Now 20 years later, I could easily go back to 20-something me. In a small apartment, with any car getting me from point A to point B, with the clothes in my closet and the food in my fridge. Funny how things come around again.

We live in this world of more hustle, more money, more things, more trips, fancy cars, designer shoes. What are you really hustling and working so hard for?  Is is for a list of things you own or want to own?  It is all perspective and what you want your legacy to be. Work hard because you love yourself, your humans and the work you do. Don't work hard because you love the money.
