Year of Big Dietitian Energy Focus #2: Train
I have been training my whole life. Training to use the potty, dance class, basketball camp, summer softball league, speech class, ACT's, MCAT's, the GRE, the RD exam, a triathlon, a 5K, training future dietitians, training myself to go to bed before 10 pm.
Life is all about training. We train ourselves to excel in different tasks. We find comfort in repetition, increasing knowledge and achieving goals. Training is a way for us to have daily wins in our life without the accolades because it is personal.
This year, I want to give more power to training in my life. The idea came from me saying "I'm going to go workout" and how much I dislike the word "workout." Work is never a word I associate positive vibes with on most occasions, so I needed a way to rethink, rephrase and refresh it in my head. This is where "train" started to replace working out in my vernacular and in my headspace. Train became a positive verb of not only my daily movement but the things I do from day to day.
Exercising: Training my muscles to be strong and grow for long term health
Mediating/Praying: Being spiritual and training myself to find the pause in each day to be grateful
Working: Training others on their wellness journey
Cooking: Training myself to make food I enjoy and being consistent
Cleaning: An organized and clean environment enables more productive training
Being a Preceptor: Training other dietitians to find the joy in our profession
Presenting: Training myself to be a compelling story teller and provider of information
Sleeping: Diligently training my body and brain to recover every day
How do you train?
