"Nutrition Should Be Consistent" Weekly Wisdom

Nutrition quote in black letters with a black background with red dots.

How did you think about nutrition during National Nutrition Month?

Did you know it was National Nutrition Month?  Being a dietitian, this is kind of on our radar for the month of March, so of course I am very aware - I'm not sure the messaging is reaching the masses we hope it does. National Nutrition Month rolls around every March and you might see a little more in the news about nutrition, read more articles or even hear the word "dietitian" on occasion.

Each year, I feel it gets more and more unremarkable.

I know I can do a better job reaching my network oh humans reminding them about this month but I kind of prefer to spread the good message about nutrition all year long. Being in the biz of nutrition ebbs and flows with interest in our services because nutrition tends to be extreme in peoples lives. They don't think about until they do or until they have too. What's for dinner tonight?  I just tried on my shorts for summer and they are tight. My kid has a game this weekend and needs some snacks.  I just had my cholesterol checked and it was high.

Nutrition goes to the extreme in these scenarios - where if it was just kept consistent, all year around, it wouldn't be another thing, literally, on our plates. For me, National Nutrition Month is National Nutrition Year. I am doing my best to help spread the message of being consistent with nutrition all the time for the long term health benefits and to prevent those nutrition "emergencies."
